Nový Opatov — A New Urban Quarter in Prague
At the heart of Nový Opatov will be a 3,000 m² public square designed as a central meeting place for residents, workers and visitors. Around this square, 28 retail units including cafés, restaurants and shops will provide daily amenities and entertainment. The plan also includes green parks, walking and cycling paths, children’s playgrounds and outdoor seating — aiming to blend nature with urban living.
A New Vision for a Forgotten Urban Space
The total area of the district covers about 68,000 m². The plan includes 414 residential units (in private, cooperative or rental form), complemented by offices with a total area of roughly 34,900 m², and additional 8,400 m² allocated for public services and retail. At the heart of the development will stand a 3,000 m² public square, intended as the main community hub — surrounded by retail units, cafés, restaurants and services.
Transport connectivity is a key strength of Nový Opatov. The proximity of the metro (line C) gives future residents quick access to the city center. Planned upgrades include a barrier‑free transport hub that connects metro, buses and a future tram line. This will create a fully integrated mobility network, supporting what the developer describes as a “city of short distances,” where amenities, work, leisure and transport are all within easy reach.
