From Revit to an Interactive BIM Environment
The DESVIX scene has been part of Terra Barrandov since the early design stages. As the BIM model evolved through individual project phases, the DESVIX environment evolved alongside it.
The team transferred the Revit model directly into DESVIX, maintaining a 1:1 connection between the BIM model and the interactive scene. As a result, each design refinement and project update could appear in the shared environment.
This approach allowed the team to continuously explore and review the project as it developed. Instead of creating a visualization only at the end, DESVIX became part of the BIM workflow. The interactive environment grew together with the project, from early concepts to a detailed digital representation.
One Shared Space for Project Collaboration
One of the main purposes of the DESVIX scene was to improve communication between the architect, designers and investor.
Instead of relying only on drawings, static renders or separate BIM views, the project team could meet around one interactive 3D model. They could explore specific locations and review design decisions directly within their spatial context.
As a result, DESVIX became more than a visualization tool. It also created a shared communication layer around the existing BIM model.
BIM Data You Can Step Into
While the BIM model provides the technical foundation, the DESVIX scene goes one step further. The project was enhanced with materials, vegetation, surrounding context and subtle environmental details to create a more natural and immersive representation of the future development.
This allows everyone involved to experience the project beyond drawings and technical data – to understand the scale of the buildings, perceive the spaces between them and get a real sense of the atmosphere at eye level.
For DESVIX, Terra Barrandov shows how an existing BIM workflow can be extended into a shared, visually understandable environment — connecting data, design and communication in one interactive scene.
